Casa Caruchino is approximately a 35-minute drive from Faro International Airport, outside the hustle and bustle of the Algarve's urban resorts but very well placed to access the region's attractions and explore local beaches, markets, historic towns and vineyards.
The Quinta da Saudade is a 24-acre estate of privately owned villas just outside of Vale de Parra. The estate has two swimming pools (not for use by the guests of Casa Caruchino), a tennis court available for hire (pre-booking essential), a restaurant and bar, a crazy golf set up, boule and a children’s play area. Alongside this, there are riding stables on the estate which keep exceptional horses and are available for gallops across the dunes or slow hacks through the countryside.

Gale beach is our nearest and is just 5-minute drive away. This magnificent 5-kilometre stretch hosts some good dining options such as Os Salgados restaurant and bar. Further afield we recommend Praia dos Arrifes, a 15-minute drive. Dos Arrifes features unique rock formations and cliffs ideal for cliff jumping and swimming. Casa Caruchino is also only an hour’s drive away from the famous west coast, known for its incredible surfing and wild, empty beaches.
Beaches
The area is frequented by ornithologists and nature enthusiasts due to the nearby wetlands ecological reserve. Those interested will find a wealth of rare bird and plant life on their doorstep. Storks, flamingos, Purple Heron, Little Bittern, Alpine Swift, Bee Eater, Red Necked Night Jar and Azure Winged Magpie are a few local to the area.

Caruchino is a short drive from the popular town of Albufeira, known for its vibrant nightlife and historic old town.
Visit the iconic Cape St Vincent, the furthest southwestern point of Europe and believed in the Middle Ages to be the end of the world.
Medieval Festival – Silves (August)
Caruchino is 20 minutes from the old medieval town of Silves, with its red sandstone castle & adjacent 13th-century cathedral. In August, Silve’s hosts the Silves Medieval Festival.
The region has an increasing number of vineyards producing excellent wines including Quinta dos Vales, Morgado do Quintão, Quinta do Barranco Longo, Quinta da Tôr or Herdade Barranco do Vale.
